My past year as a Working Mum & a Blogger 


A year has passed in a blink of an eye. Im sure we all had our share of  ups & downs. Each wonderful experienced we gained should be cherished while the ones that had given us pain, fear and sorrow should be forgotten, forgiven & kept as a lesson in life.

Be thankful for what we have accomplished so far, as coming to this point was never easy nor smooth. We are who we are today because of how our life's journey & experiences has moulded us.

Be grateful to those who have been with us through difficult times when we have hit rock bottom.

Those who have betrayed us, hurt us & had given nothing except sorrow during the last year, lets forget the pain that have slit through our hearts like a sharp knife, lets forgive them for what they have done because those who forgive & forget have bigger hearts ! They may have done this unknowingly or due to certain circumstances that sometimes can never be explained or understood. Its never easy but lets try. I had my share of betrayal but I'm here today to forget & forgive......

Be thankful for what we have in our pockets today, lets not compare nor become a green eyed monster, as that only brings you to insecurity and low self esteem. But having healthy competition is always encouraged as it gives you motivation & challenges

Feel blessed that we have a roof under our heads and reach out to those who need our guidance & assistance.

2014 is almost ending ! Can't believe this year just went past in a blink of an eye. A lot of wonderful moments to cherish this year.... mainly my brother's wedding which took place a couple of weeks ago. My relatives from all over the country came down to witness this memorable event. During this time, I realised food delivery to your door step is the utmost important thing. We had a lot work piled up, a week before the wedding, everyone had their own task to handle & hence there were so little time to think about cooking for the whole family & cleaning up. The best way to get food delivered to you was from a reliable online food delivery service.

And I can't believe that this statement is actually coming from me! I do not work with laptops like many others out there ..... so Im definitely not a tech savvy. I practically prefer going to the banks to do my usual errant, I prefer going to the restaurants to get my meals, but after knowing about this wonderful site I think otherwise....

We decided to eat lunch at home on a lazy Sunday. My husband was away and plus I had to babysit my neighbours kid as well. Now for me to handle 3 kids all by myself during a meal is very difficult if Im going to eat at a restaurant. They will definitely drive me up the wall at a particular restaurant by creating a lot of mess and making a lot of noise that might disturb the other customers. Hence, I've decided to order from FoodPanda. The kids can have their own pace to eat and I dont have think about the mess that they create. Its a Win-Win situation. And I was so proud of the idea. So sit back & read on as I assist you on this

Enter your city & area. Click find restaurants

Surf the site for your preferred restaurants..... you will have plenty of choices ! When I entered my city & area, I had a list of 50 restaurants to choose from. Guess what ?! You can also filter them according to your preferences.

Step 5 

How to filter according to your preferences ? Well at the left hand side, you see a column like this. You can choose what you prefer, for example you have a choice of Halal & Non- Halal food, if you're looking only for beverages, to find out if pre-order & pick ups are possible or you're looking for extra perks like if the restaurants offer any Deals. You can also filter by choosing what Cuisines you like, Malaysian food, fast food, Pizza, Cakes, sandwiches or seafood. 

I wanted a restaurant that offers both Western & Malaysian food and that comes along with beverages. So I clicked on Western, Malaysian food and beverages( as you see from the picture above)  and I had a few restaurants to choose from. 

Step 6

It also shows you their delivery time and delivery charges. Once you have filtered and decided which restaurant you want, just click 'Go to menu' and have fun choosing the dishes & beverages that you like. 

Step 7 

As you choose your dishes it appears on the right hand side like this. It gives you the list of what you have ordered, the quantity, the price of each dish, the total amount that you need to pay. Once you have checked your list,Click 'Proceed to checkout'

Step 8 

You can now review your order again. If you need to add more dishes or remove a certain dish, you can still do so by clicking 'Change Order' at the top right hand corner. You can choose your delivery time, whether you want them ASAP or choose 'later' and give them the exact date and timing. I wanted them to deliver as soon as possible and so I clicked on it. Once you're done click 'Checkout'

Step 9

You're done ! Continue your work routine or relax by watching TV while the FoodPanda delivers food right to your doorstep !! 

40 minutes later 

Hey...... guess who was at the front door 20 minutes earlier than expected !! Its the friendly delivery guy from FoodPanda. The kids were starving & were very excited when he came all smiling with 3 big bags full of yummy food. He was not only very friendly but also very professional & that impressed me.

The delivery guy's name is Mr.Rizal and he has been with the FoodPanda team for the past 6 months. He said he loves his job, though its quite challenging to go through traffic to deliver the food on time. He sometimes need to deliver upto 20 customers a day. Just before he left my place, he also said if I was not satisfied with the delivery or if I had any issues with the service I could contact FoodPanda's Customer Service.

The Much awaited wedding....

The ritual, plenty of Indian food & sweets, melam & nadaswaram, the colourful sarees, shopping, pre planning..... it has definitely been the hectic month by far yet it was one of the best days. Can't believe my lil bro got hitched to a beautiful girl. My bro who only talks about Liverpool team, manual cars & their engines, backpacking, oil platforms, 'backpacking again' now talks about earrings, high heels and roses. Yeah ROSES !!! It was never in his vocabulary.... lol

Mum & dad said they are less stressful as they have passed the complicated & challenging responsibility to the bride

We would like to thank Family & Friends who went all out in helping out at the wedding. You know who you are !! Without you guys the wedding wouldn't have been a success. A Big THANK YOU once again....

Hindi Movie - Happy New Year

I've had the privilege to watch a special movie screening of a Hindi movie called Happy New Year at the Indulge TGV One Utama recently. This movie was directed by Farah Khan, who has been choreographing hundreds of dance routines in the world of Bollywood. 

As you can see from the movie poster, this movie boasts strong characters, like Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone. It has been a while, since I saw a hindi movie and was hoping this movie will turn out good. But did it turn out the way I wanted it too ?! Is the movie worth watching again ?! Read on to find out more.........

Beware.... Spoilers ahead ! 

Charlie ( Shah Rukh Khan ) is all set to take revenge on Charan Grover ( Jackie Shroff )  who ruined his fathers life under a false robbery act. He started recruiting one by one, to form a team to steal a handful of diamonds. These diamonds are kept in Shalimar, a huge safe with numerous tight security. The only person that can access the safe is none other than Charan Grover and his son. Charlie has been waiting almost 8 years to take revenge on this guy, and the best time to do this is by joining the World  Dance Championship. 

The 6 of them can't dance..... hence they had to ask a bar dancer Mohini ( Deepika Padukone ) for help. Initially she refused, but later they managed to convince her to teach them the basics and she joined the team as well. She was the only person who did not know the motive of joining the World Dance Championship. 

The whole movie evolves around stealing the diamonds from the Shalimar. Each move is scrutinised over and over again before it gets executed.

This movie doesn't give you anything new to look forward too. Its a repetition of classical hindi revenge story that we've seen over and over again. The poor script doesnt capture the audience mind. The countless comedy bits doesnt allow you to laugh your heads off. I felt Farah Khan could have done better with the script. The movie does boast wonderful actors and actress but it just doesnt give you enough, something is still lacking despite the famous cast. 

But then again if you're looking for something entertaining without going deep into the script, then you might enjoy the movie to some extent. The songs are wonderful especially the India Waale song. Its very catchy and you just want to go out there and dance to the tune. Its one of my favourite song from the movie.... and I can hear myself humming to the tune at work ! They definitely spent alot on the movie, looking at the beautiful grand sets, stage shows during the world Dance Championship and their wonderful costumes. The dance and songs are beautiful in this movie.

Here I would also like to introduce a new show on Zee Variasi ( Bollywood entertainment channel ). Its called ''Dil Se Naachein Indiawaale''. Whats the connection you may ask ?!! 

Dil Se Naachein Indiawaale is a new reality show in line with the movie Happy New Year. It's India's first ever multi city dance tour in the quest to find the happiest dancers. It allows dancers to brush aside considerations such as technique and training, allowing them to let their hair down and dance straight from their hearts. 

The title of this show was actually inspired by my favourite song Indiawaale from the movie itself. This show will test their dancers on the level of energy and happiness they bring on the stage.  

And the best part is coming up !! Guess who are the judges for this reality show??! You definitely dont wanna miss this show once you know who the judges are..... I can guarantee you on that for sure! 

The judging panel is the star cast of the movie !! So you have Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Farah Khan, Boman Irani, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah 

How cool is that !! You get to watch them live in action, judging the fellow dancers. They are basically of set, being themselves and judging the show from their hearts...... something that I would love to watch.

With the core idea of spreading happiness throughout the country through dance, this reality show comprises 10 episodes, which will be aired on Zee Variasi, every Saturday and Sunday from 18th of October for five consecutive weekends in total. 

The grand finale of this reality show will be held on the 16th of November.

The launch of Bollywood Professional at MUSE by Watsons

Being dark skinned I've always had my share of problems when buying cosmetics at a certain places. Mainly because their colors are too bright or just too light to go along with my skin colour & tone. Hence, when I received the invite for the launching of Bollywood Professional at the MUSE by Watsons, I was kinda excited and was hoping to find something that can suite my complexion.

That means the makeup that you see on the actresses in the numerous Bollywood  movies are from this cosmetic brand ! They always seem to have that wonderful radiant, glowing skin, luscious lips, sexy eyes that makes them very vibrant & glamourous.  The secret is finally out and we get to be part of it. 

There were few make up artist to help you out with the products. Some of them will concentrate on your eyes, or your face and some will help you choose the right colours for your lips. I got to do my eyes first. 

I decided to let the make up artist choose the colours for me....... the only rule was, I didnt want it to look too dramatic. She chuckled & said not to worry... I'll go with your saree colour. That sounds about right I felt :)

Botanical shadow Primer

Just before using the eye shadow, she recommended the Botanical Shadow Primer. She used a very small amount of it and applied evenly over the upper eye area. Im very particular when it comes to my eyes cause Im allergic to some products. Sometimes it causes severe itchiness or my eyes starts watering..... yeah I know.... thats such a pain at times. But this primer did not give me any of those problems and Im glad. 

The benefits of this primer you may ask ?! 

- it primes your eyes for a smooth, long lasting eye shadow application

- evens the eyelid color and texture

   Now this I really need ! Cause I dont think I have an even texture on my upper eye area.

- botanically infused to soothe the delicate eye area 

- it has vitamin E !

- it has chamomile & aloe that helps to moisture the area 

Following which she combined a few eye shadows to match my bright pink & purple saree. The color did complement the saree colour.

Just before I got my face done, I was intoduced to Rani Birring !! She is the managing director of Bollywood Professional, born and brought up in England, and a professional make up artist. She is well versed with her knowledge of the beauty industry and its differing markets around the world... and she knew we Malaysians will be overwhelmed if products like this reached our shores.... and indeed it did.... dont you all think ! 

Tinted Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 

She herself saw my skin tone and recommended the tinted primer broad spectrum SPF 20 medium color to the make up artist.... And i agreed. Im sure she knows better. For me, I dont want the foundation to be too thick, or something that will be make me too fair. There is nothing wrong being dark skinned...... you just need a primer/ foundation that complements your skin tone.

I love the look..... what it did to me was it hid all my pores and gave me a smooth complexion. You can wear the primer alone or under the foundation. I was quite happy with the primer alone so I skipped the foundation.

Next stop is the Lipstick ! They have 12 beautiful colours in their Liquid Lipstick range. The colours are very bold and bright. My personal best is Pumpkin Spice, Electric Coral, Electric Taffy and Electric Pink !! These lipsticks are very creamy without the sticky feeling. Plus they are long lasting.... so we dont have to apply over and over again !! I would pick the lipsticks as one of my personal favorites here :) The other advantage of using these would be giving your lips the extra hydration that they need.
